Soul Man, first black DJ in the South

If you’re lucky, every once in a while you can catch and tell a little history.

Early Wright, the “Soul Man,” was quite possibly the first black DJ in the South. From WROX in Clarksdale, Miss., Early Wright helped script the history of blues music in the Mississippi Delta. Friend Kelvin Thomas shot and produced the 11-minute story. I wrote and reported. 1995. If you’d like to use the video, happy to oblige, but please ask permission.

Cold Romance on VD Day

Beautiful day for a carriage ride (con heater). One of only three snow days in Chicago this year. The downtown horse business does best in white weather. Snuggle. Warmth. City somewhat muted by the snow. I thought it felt more like Christmas than VD.DSC_0528
