lake horizon The scale? Compared to what.

Lake Michigan Lake Michigan from atop the John Hancock on January 22. This is one of the most remarkable sights I can remember. To see it in-person is stunning. It seems as if Lake Michigan goes on forever. It seems like this lake right now would define cold water. I hope the fish have sweaters. On second thought, they may be throwing a party. No barbed hooks with irresistible snacks on the end. Here’s to the good fish and damned be the Asian carp. Hail Michigan, not the university, the lake.

Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone……

My first model

marshalls bag I am not a technical photographer. I don’t know what all the knobs do and I never will. I don’t want to know because it doesn’t concern me. I know about the one’s I need and like, but it’s not many. My background is a run and gun TV photographer. Shooting still pictures is difficult. I sure do love doing it, though. I’ve never staged or posed a shot with the exception of this bag. I think it’s a nice picture, but I’m not sure exactly why that is. What I do know is I like the color of the background and the focus on the camouflage side of the $2.50 Marshalls bag. I probably spent 30 minutes shooting the bag which is about 25 minutes longer than anything else I take pictures of.

Another Chicago Snow Storm

Last year I think it snowed twice in Chicago. This year it’s one big blanket of snow after another. Hate cold weather, but love the snow. In two different early morning hours it snows about two inches. That’s getting close to no visibility. I love the snow because it changes the world for a few hours. And then people wake up. Sheesh.

Another Chicago Winter Storm

http://vimeo.com/84647732 This was only hour one of what is expected to be a 10-12 hour storm. Gusting winds up to 40 miles per hour. Lake effect snow. Temperature down to 7 degrees and an expected foot of snow. I’ve not seen it this windy since the blizzard a few years ago. I’ll be heading back in it in an hour or two. One of my favorite hobbies in Chicago.
